Happy Fall to you!

Yeah it is officially Fall and I turned my AC off! This is the perfect kind of weather where my house stays at an average of 70 without heat or AC. I actually open the windows at night because I love the fresh air.
I am combining challenges on the next two cards. I was able to try Get Sketchy's #7 sketch this week and paired it with Simon Says Challenge last week to use stitching.

3 challenges completed!

Wahoo! I was on a roll tonight and made 3 cards. I used Making Memories Autumn Splendor papers and instead of rambling on and on, I will get right to the cards.

First my card for CardPatterns #33 sketch. I kinda played around with the design a bit to create this:

Supplies: cardstock: Recollections white; pattern paper and rub-on: Making Memories Autumn Splendor; flowers: Petaloo Dahlia cream/brown; rhinestones: Basic Grey Bling It; button: Dress It Up; fiber: Darice twine

Last week my secret pal at work she gave me the sweetest card wishing me luck for the new school year, a big bag of Twizzlers, and some super cute name tags. I made this card based on Unscripted Sketches # 24 challenge for her. I type her because it's all women I work with. I was not certain I would like this card but once it came together, I liked it and think the sketch really challenged me.

Supplies: cardstock: Recollections white and The Paper Co. kraft; pattern paper: Making Memories Autumn Splendor; fibers: Darice twine; button: Dress It Up; rub-on: American Crafts Mini; other: Marvy circle punch

Last card is for Laura's sketch #35 at 2S4y this week. You should give this sketch a try!

Supplies: cardstock: The Paper Co. and Stampin' Up Really Rust and Barely Banana; pattern papers: Making Memories Autumn Splendor; rub-on: Scenic Route sentiments set 2; rhinestones: BG Bling It; fibers: Darice twine; other: dimensional dots

Fall cards

I am falling behind with posting so I am combining several cards on this post. I bought some of the new Making Memories Autumn Splendor papers. Some of the papers die cut, glittered, and foiled. I am a sucker for paper.

I combined a few challenges on this card. Card based on CardPatterns #32 sketch and Zoe's LCOM glitter challenge. I added Stickles to the edge of the leaf die cut to make it sparkle and the striped cardstock actually has a red glitter line but it does not show very well. :-(

For the 2S4Y card sketch #35:

and my last card is for the Paper Popsicles blog card sketch #18:

The prize this week is 3 shaped card templates. New shapes have been added for Halloween. Super cute pumpkin, bat, with boot, and more!

Okay, off to ride my bike with my daughter. It's a gorgeous Friday evening! She wants to go around the pond and see if she can spot any turtles.

Catching Up for the week so lots to share!

I think I lost my mojo mid week. I just couldn't make anything I liked. I created, but was never satisfied with the final product. Today I dedicated the morning hours to completing several sketches/challenges and still not sure the cards are the best, but can't work on anything further because my mojo is spent.
I was determined to use some older papers which I obviously neglected to utilize after I purchased. In my mind, I was thinking, "I better hang onto some of that paper for later," and it is now later. I am trying to use up as much as I can without throwing a bunch of items on a card to make it look overdone.

First card is for 2S4Y this week. I made two cards for Laura's sketch because the first one was not a favorite.

Supplies: cardstock: The Paper Co. kraft; pattern paper: Sass Lass; trim: Making Memories; rub-on's: Royal Brush; stamp: TAC; ink: Quick Quotes; rhinestone: Basci Grey; staples: Walmart

Here is my second attempt at the sketch which I incorporated Paper Blooms challenge to use bling on your creation:

Supplies: cardstock: Recollections white; pattern paper: Pink Paislee; stamp: Michael's; ink: Quick Quotes; ribbon and button: craft supply; rub-on: Cosmo Cricket; gel pen: Target; rhinestones: Heidi Swapp; floss: DMC; butterfly sticker: Making Memories

I missed the deadline for the CardPatterns sketch #31 but wanted to share my card:

Supplies: cardstock: Recollections white; pattern paper: Pink Paislee; flower: made by me; leaves: Prima; rub-on: American Crafts mini marks; ribbon: Target

and the last card (I promise!) is for Caardvarks #2 sketch that Heidi Van Laar created. My goal is complete all three of the sketches. For now though:

Supplies: cardstock: The Paper Co. kraft; pattern paper: Sass Lass; felt: A.C. Moore; ribbon: Target Dollar spot; sticker: Jolee's; alphabet stickers: Pink Paislee; rub-on: Royal Brush; button: Dress It Up

Thank you for stopping by! I really appreciate your visit! :-)

Smashed cupcakes and a lil' monster

Today was the first day of school for PWC students! For my daughter, 8th grade has officially begun and that's reason enough to celebrate with a cupcake in our family. I worked today so I had no time to bake cupcakes. After work, I rushed over to Cupcake Heaven to buy cupcakes before she got home from school. This turned out to be a difficult task because the flavors were all so tempting and they use the cutest boxes to package the cupcakes when you buy more than one. I know it's silly to ogle a box, but it reminds me of my childhood when we received bakery items in boxes tied up with twine. Moving forward with my story though. I had thirty minutes and I was so excited to greet DD at the door and hear all about her day while she enjoyed a sweet treat. However there was a bit of an accident en route home. A man decided he wanted to make a sudden left hand turn on the 50 MPH road and slammed his brakes on causing five cars to jam their brakes on. The cupcakes took a tumble off the leather seat to the floor board. :-( I knew the beautifully decorated cakes were doomed. Sigh. Well, I am thankful there was not an accident, thankful that I could afford to buy J cupcake's because I have a job, thankful my car brakes are functioning properly, and thankful that I made it home in time to see her get off the bus and snap a few photos. I also took a couple of the smashed cupcakes.

and to the driver that made that left turn:

a monster with his tongue sticking out at you!

Shaped cards for Halloween

I think I might be one of the few who does not own an electronic die cutting machine. Simon actually bought me one for Christmas, but I told him to please return it because it was expensive and I was not sure if I would use it. I seem to have managed thus far without it. However, today I was a little stumped when Melissa from Paper Popsicles sent the DT the new shaped card templates to work with. The files were solid images and I did not want to use all my ink printing them out. So my super fiance manually altered the pdf files and I was able to make the cards below. What a sweetie! Thank you Simon! Thanks to Melissa too! There are lots of new shapes for Hallow's Eve. I will definitely be sharing more in the near future!

I based my card off the Get Sketchy #4 sketch:

Supplies: witch hat template Paper Popsicles; cardstock: Recollections black and orange; pattern paper: Reminisce Esmeralda, Teresa Collins Spooktacular, and Making Memories Halloween; rhinestones: Darice, button: Dress It Up;ribbon: Making Memories; floss: DMC; feather: craft supply;ink: Anna Griffith; tools: Cuttlebug Swiss dot embossing folder

Supplies: pumpkin template: Paper Popsicles; cardstock: The Paper Co. kraft; pattern paper and rub on: Pink Paislee Vintage Moon; pen: Sakura Glaze; ribbon: Wright's; floral wire and brads: craft supply; ink: Stampin' Up Chocolate chip; tools: Stampin' Up scallop punch; Marvy circle punch

With Love

Have you seen Kazan's new sketch for 2S4Y this week? I liked it right away and just happened to receive my Ballard Designs catalog that day so I had lots of inspiration!
I based my card off these giclees:

and my card: I used some older Cosmo Cricket papers. I like the wood grain patterns in it.
